Credentials
- Server URL — Ntfy server URL. Default: https://ntfy.sh (public server).
- Topic Name — The notification topic (e.g., my-site-updates). Subscribers use this to receive notifications.
- Auth Token (optional) — Authentication token if your Ntfy server requires it.
Setup
- Choose a unique topic name.
- In Joomla, go to Components, Mokonyx Social, add an Ntfy service, and enter the topic name.
- Have subscribers install the Ntfy app and subscribe to your topic.
Public vs. Self-Hosted
- Public server (ntfy.sh) is the quickest way to start — but topics are public, so anyone who knows the topic name can subscribe.
- Self-hosted Ntfy lets you require an auth token and keep notifications private, which is better for sensitive updates.
Choosing a Topic Name
Pick a unique, hard-to-guess topic name on the public server so strangers cannot accidentally subscribe. Treat the topic name like a shared secret.
