How to Add & Manage Data Sources

Details

  • Applicable Software: MokonyxInsight
  • Min Version Number: 01.00.00
  • Max Version Number: Not Applicable

A data source is a configured connection to a provider (GA4, Matomo, SQL, REST, Prometheus…). You can create as many as you like — several Prometheus servers, multiple GA4 properties, and so on.

Create a connection

  1. Insight → Data Sources → New.
  2. Pick a Provider type. The form shows that provider's settings.
  3. Enter non-secret settings (base URL, site id, property id…) and paste the API key/token into the secret field — it is encrypted at rest and never shown again.
  4. Optionally bind the connection to a Site for multi-site setups.
  5. Click Save, then Test.

Test & status

The Test action checks reachability and auth, then stamps the row with a status, last error and last-checked time, so you can see at a glance which sources are healthy.

Metric addressing

Each connection's metrics are addressed as <slug>:<metric> in dashboards, reports and alerts.

The GA4 provider reads the Google Analytics 4 Data API, exposing ga.* metrics (sessions, users, pageviews, events, trends, top pages, sources, countries).

Prepare Google

  1. In Google Cloud, create a service account and download its JSON key.
  2. In GA4 Admin → Property Access Management, add the service-account email as a Viewer.
  3. Note your GA4 Property ID (a number).

Add the data source

  1. Insight → Data Sources → New, provider type Google Analytics (GA4).
  2. Set property_id in params; paste the full service-account JSON into the secret.
  3. Save then Test.

The ga.* metrics are now available to dashboards and reports.

  3. Note the property URL (e.g. sc-domain:example.com or the full URL).

  2. Set the site_url in params; paste the service-account JSON into the secret.

Details
Category: Guides
  • Applicable Software: MokonyxInsight
  • Min Version Number: 01.00.49
  • Max Version Number: Not Applicable

The Matomo provider (matomo.*) reads the Matomo Reporting API: visits, unique visitors, actions, pageviews, bounce rate, visits-over-time, and top pages / referrers / countries.

Prepare Matomo

  1. In Matomo, go to Administration → Personal → Security and create an Auth token (use a view-only user).
  2. Note your Site ID (idSite).

Add the data source

  1. Insight → Data Sources → New, provider type Matomo.
  2. Set the base URL (e.g. https://matomo.example.com) and idsite; paste the auth token into the secret (it is sent in the request body, never the URL).
