Connect a REST / JSON API

The REST provider (rest.*) is the keystone connector: point it at any JSON HTTP endpoint and map the response into metrics — so most long-tail SaaS and internal APIs become data sources without a bespoke plugin.

Add the data source

1. Insight → Data Sources → New, provider type REST / JSON.
2. Set the base URL and an auth scheme: none, Bearer, header or query (put the token in the secret).
3. Define a metric map: per metric give a name, type, request path, optional query, and a dot-path into the JSON (value_path for scalars; rows_path + label_key/bucket_key/value_key for lists/timeseries).
4. Save then Test.
