What's already there
Your fresh install arrives with a curated collection of about 35 services, grouped into workspaces such as Google Workspace, Comms, Moko Infra, Tools, and Advertising. You don't have to add these—they're waiting for you in the sidebar. MokoHub opens straight to your home service (Gmail by default), so your inbox is one glance away.
Because MokoHub is local-first, everything you set up—your tiles, their order, and their settings—is saved right on your computer. There's no account to create and nothing to sync manually.
Adding a service from the catalog
If you want a tool that isn't already in your sidebar, you can add it from the catalog.
- Click the plus (+) button at the top or bottom of the sidebar to open Add a service.
- Browse or search the list. MokoHub shows a curated set of services chosen for Moko's toolkit, so you'll see clean, relevant choices rather than an overwhelming directory.
- Click the service you want.
- Give it a name if you'd like, confirm the web address, and adjust any options shown.
- Click Save. The new tile appears in your sidebar and loads immediately.
Adding a custom website
Need a site that isn't in the catalog? Use the built-in Custom Website option, which is always available.
- Open Add a service and choose Custom Website.
- Enter a name and the full web address (for example, https://example.com).
- Click Save. MokoHub creates a tile that opens that site just like any other service.
Arranging your sidebar
Put the services you use most where you can reach them fastest.
- Reorder tiles: Click and drag a tile up or down the sidebar to move it. Its new position is remembered.
- Workspaces: Related services are organized into workspaces (like Google Workspace or Advertising). Switching workspaces lets you focus on one set of tools at a time.
- One sign-in for Google: The Google Workspace services share a single login. Sign in to Gmail once and Calendar, Drive, Docs, and the rest come along for the ride—no repeated sign-ins.
Muting and disabling services
You can quiet a service without removing it, or switch it off entirely when you're not using it.
- Mute: Silences a service's notifications and unread badge while keeping the tile in place. Handy for a chatty app during focus time.
- Disable: Hides the tile and stops it from running. Nothing is deleted—re-enable it any time and it comes right back.
To change either, right-click the tile (or open its settings) and toggle Mute or Enable/Disable. You can also mute all services at once from the app menu when you want quiet across the board.
Per-service settings
Every tile has its own settings so you can tailor how it behaves. Open a service's settings from its right-click menu or the settings area, and you'll find options such as:
- Name and icon — rename the tile or give it a custom icon.
- Web address — point the tile at a specific page or account.
- Notifications and unread badges — choose whether this service shows message counts and pop-up alerts.
- Mute audio — silence sounds coming from the service.
Fine-tuning performance
To keep MokoHub light on memory, most services "hibernate" (pause quietly) when you haven't used them for a while, then wake up when you return. Notification-critical apps like Gmail, chat, and messaging stay awake so alerts arrive in real time.
You can adjust how eagerly a service hibernates by setting its priority:
- High — stays running for instant notifications. Best for email, chat, and SMS. Keep this list short, since always-on services use the most memory.
- Normal — the everyday default. Hibernates after a short idle period but still checks for new messages in the background.
- Low — hibernates quickly and checks rarely, ideal for tools you only open occasionally.
If your computer feels sluggish, move a few rarely-used services to Low to free up memory. On a managed company setup, an administrator may lock these settings, in which case the priority options will be greyed out.
A note for managed setups
If your MokoHub was provided by your organization, some choices may already be made for you. On locked deployments the starting set of tiles can't be changed, and performance settings may be fixed by an administrator. If an option is unavailable, that's by design—reach out to your MokoHub administrator for changes.
Getting help
If a service won't load or sign-in gets stuck, disabling and re-enabling the tile often clears it up. For anything else, use the Support link on the welcome screen to reach the MokoHub team.
