Credentials
- Instance URL — Your Mastodon server (e.g., https://mastodon.social). Default: https://mastodon.social.
- Access Token — Generate in your instance's Preferences, Development, New Application.
Setup Steps
- Log into your Mastodon instance.
- Go to Preferences, Development, New Application.
- Give it a name (e.g., MokonyxSocial) and grant write:statuses permission.
- Copy the generated access token.
- Enter the instance URL and token in MokonyxSocial.
Limits
500 characters (default, may vary by instance). Media attachments are supported.
Best Practices
- Use the correct instance URL. The token is tied to the instance where you created the application, so the URL and token must match.
- Grant only what is needed. The write:statuses scope is enough to publish posts; avoid granting broader permissions.
- Mind the character limit. Keep the intro text concise so the post is not truncated on instances with a 500-character cap.
Verifying It Works
After saving the service, publish (or re-save a published) test article and check both your Mastodon timeline and the MokonyxSocial Activity Logs to confirm delivery.
