Why Cross-Post to Ghost
Ghost is a clean, fast publishing platform favored by writers and newsletters. Automatically mirroring your articles to a Ghost publication keeps that audience current and extends the reach of your content — without rewriting or re-pasting each post by hand.
How It Works
When an article is published on your Mokonyx site, MokonyxSocial sends the content to your Ghost publication as a new post through the Admin API. You control whether those posts arrive as drafts for review or are published immediately.
Credentials
- Ghost Site URL — Your Ghost site (for example, https://myblog.ghost.io).
- Admin API Key — From Ghost Admin under Settings, Integrations, Custom Integration, in the format id:secret.
- Default Post Status — Whether cross-posted items are saved as drafts or published immediately.
Authentication
The Ghost Admin API key is issued in id:secret form. MokonyxSocial uses that key to authenticate each request to the Admin API, so you do not need to manage any tokens manually — you only supply the key once.
Setup
- In Ghost Admin, go to Settings, Integrations.
- Click Add Custom Integration and give it a name (for example, MokonyxSocial).
- Copy the Admin API Key shown for the integration.
- In Joomla, go to Components, Mokonyx Social, add a Ghost service, paste the site URL and Admin API Key, choose a default post status, then save and publish.
Tips for Best Results
- Use the Admin API key, not the Content API key — Creating posts requires the Admin API key in id:secret format; the read-only Content API key will not work.
- Review before publishing — Set the Default Post Status to draft if you want to check each cross-post in Ghost before it goes live.
- Protect your key — Keep the Admin API key private; you can revoke and regenerate it in Ghost at any time if it is exposed.
Troubleshooting
If posts don't appear, verify the Ghost Site URL is correct, that you copied the full Admin API Key including both the id and secret halves, and that the custom integration is still enabled in Ghost. Authentication errors almost always trace back to a mistyped or revoked key.
