🧾 Enabling the Module
- Navigate to:
Home → Setup → Modules → Bill of Materials - Click Activate
- Optional: Configure default unit conversions and warehouse usage
🔧 Creating a Bill of Material
- Go to Products → Select or Create a Product
- Click "BOM" tab
- Add one or more components:
- Product/Component
- Quantity used
- Unit of measure
- Save to finalize the BOM
🏭 Using BOM in Manufacturing
- Link BOMs to Manufacturing Orders (if Production module is enabled)
- When production is launched:
- Components are deducted from inventory
- Finished product is added to stock
- Track production yield, time, and cost per build
🔗 Integration With Other Modules
- Products: BOMs define what is needed to build a product
- Stock: Updates inventory for consumed and produced items
- Manufacturing: Drives the production workflow
- Accounting (optional): Tracks material costs in COGS or inventory valuation
📊 Reporting and Planning
- View BOM structure and usage history
- Export multilevel BOMs for supplier sourcing or internal documentation
- Forecast material requirements based on planned production
📌 Best Practices
- Define BOMs only for products that require production or assembly
- Use consistent units across parent and component products
- Audit BOM accuracy to prevent stock discrepancies
- Update BOMs when product design or sourcing changes
- Use multilevel BOMs for complex assemblies or kits
