Why Cross-Post to WordPress

A WordPress site is often the hub of a wider content presence. Automatically mirroring new articles there keeps that site current, broadens the reach of your writing, and saves the manual copy-and-paste of every post — while your Mokonyx site remains the source of truth.

How It Works

When an article is published on your Mokonyx site, MokonyxSocial sends the content to your connected WordPress site as a new post via the REST API posts endpoint. Full HTML content is supported with no character limit, so long-form articles carry over cleanly.

Credentials

  • WordPress Site URL — The target self-hosted WordPress site (for example, https://myblog.com).
  • Username — Your WordPress username.
  • Application Password — Generated in WordPress under Users, Profile, Application Passwords.
  • Default Post Status — Whether cross-posted items are saved as drafts or published immediately.

Authentication

WordPress authenticates the REST API with Basic Auth using an Application Password rather than a bearer token. Application Passwords are safer than sharing your main password and can be revoked independently at any time from your WordPress profile, so a single integration can be disconnected without affecting your login.

Setup

  1. In WordPress, go to Users, Profile, and scroll to Application Passwords.
  2. Enter a name (for example, MokonyxSocial) and click Add New Application Password; copy the generated value.
  3. In Joomla, go to Components, Mokonyx Social, and add a WordPress service.
  4. Enter the site URL, username, and Application Password, choose a default post status, then save and publish the service.

Notes

  • Full HTML content is supported, with no character limit.
  • Category mapping is not yet implemented — cross-posted items are created in the default WordPress category.
  • Set the Default Post Status to draft to review posts in WordPress before they go live.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use Application Passwords, not your login — Generate a dedicated Application Password for MokonyxSocial so you can revoke just this connection later without changing your main password.
  • Confirm the REST API is reachable — Some security plugins or hosts restrict the WordPress REST API; make sure it is enabled on the target site.
  • Review before publishing — Start with the Default Post Status set to draft until you are satisfied with how posts carry over.

Troubleshooting

If posts don't appear, verify the site URL is correct and reachable, that the username and Application Password match, and that the WordPress REST API is not blocked by a security plugin or server rule. Authentication failures almost always trace back to a mistyped or revoked Application Password.
