Troubleshooting

Fixes for common MokoHub problems — sign-in, updates, notifications, and services.

A Service Won't Load

Details
Category: Troubleshooting
  • Applicable Software: MokoHub

Every tile in MokoHub loads a website in its own small browser view. Most of the time it just works, but now and then a tab opens blank, shows an error, or gets stuck part-way through signing in. This guide walks you through the quick fixes, in the order to try them.

Work through the steps from top to bottom. In most cases the very first one clears things up.

Start here: reload the tab

A blank or half-loaded tab is very often just a hiccup, the same as a web page that needs a refresh. Reloading forces the service to fetch a clean copy.

  1. Click the service in the left-hand sidebar so its tab is showing.
  2. Reload it. Press Ctrl+R (on a Mac, Cmd+R), or right-click the service in the sidebar and choose Reload.
  3. Give it a few seconds to finish loading.

If the page comes back, you're done. If it's still blank or shows an error, move on.

Check your internet connection

MokoHub loads real websites, so if your connection drops, tabs will fail to load exactly like a browser would.

  1. Open a normal web browser and try to visit any website.
  2. If that also fails, the problem is your connection, not MokoHub. Reconnect to Wi-Fi or your network and try the service again.
  3. If only one particular service is failing while everything else loads fine, that service's own website may be temporarily down. Wait a little and reload.

Try signing in again (Google services)

Many MokoHub tiles are Google Workspace tools, and they share a single Google sign-in. If a tab looks blank or keeps bouncing back to a login page, your session may simply have expired.

  1. Open the affected service and sign in to Google again if prompted.
  2. Because Google tools share one login, signing in once usually restores the others too. Click through Gmail, Calendar, and Drive to confirm.

If a Google sign-in gets stuck part-way through (a spinning page that never finishes), that is often an allowed-sites issue. See the section below.

Clear the service and let it reload fresh

If a tab is still stuck, clearing that service resets its stored data so it loads from scratch. This is the tab-level equivalent of clearing a browser's cookies for one site.

  1. Right-click the service in the sidebar.
  2. Choose Clear cache (and, if offered, Reload).
  3. Wait for the tab to reload. You may be asked to sign in again afterward, which is normal.

Note: clearing a service affects only that one tile. It won't remove the tile or touch your other services.

If it's still blank: the allowed-sites (domain lock) setting

MokoHub can be set up to only open websites on an approved list. This keeps managed installs locked to trusted tools. If a service, or a page it redirects to during sign-in, isn't on that list, the tab can come up blank or stop mid-load.

This isn't something you can change yourself on a managed setup, but knowing the symptom helps you report it clearly. Tell-tale signs:

  • The tab is blank straight after opening a specific service.
  • A sign-in page starts loading, then freezes or bounces back without finishing.
  • Everything else loads fine, so it isn't your connection.

If that matches what you're seeing, it likely needs a site added to the approved list by whoever manages your MokoHub. Contact your administrator or use the Support link on the welcome screen, and mention the exact service and what you saw.

Restart MokoHub

If several tabs are misbehaving at once, a full restart clears any temporary glitch.

  1. Fully quit MokoHub (don't just close the window if it keeps running in the tray).
  2. Open it again and wait for your services to reload.

Still stuck?

If a service won't load after all of the above, gather a couple of quick details before reaching out: which service it is, and whether it's blank, showing an error message, or freezing during sign-in. Then contact your administrator or use the Support link on the MokoHub welcome screen so it can be looked into.

Fixing Sign-in Problems

Details
Category: Troubleshooting
  • Applicable Software: MokoHub

MokoHub keeps all your work apps in one window, and you sign in to them the same way you would in a browser: with your Google Workspace account. There is no separate MokoHub username or password to remember. If sign-in gets stuck, this guide walks you through the most common problems and how to fix them.

How sign-in works (the short version)

When you open MokoHub for the first time, you see a welcome screen with a Get started button. Clicking it takes you straight to your dock of apps.

You then sign in to your services (Gmail, Calendar, and the rest) inside their tiles, just like signing in on a website. Because your Google apps share one sign-in session, signing in to any one Google service normally signs you in to the others automatically.

Google sign-in won't finish or gets stuck

If the Google sign-in page hangs partway through, spins forever, or shows a blank screen after you enter your details, try these steps in order:

  1. Wait a few seconds. The sign-in process bounces between several Google pages, and that can take a moment.
  2. Close the tile and reopen it, then start sign-in again.
  3. Fully quit MokoHub and reopen it.
  4. Check your internet connection by opening any website in a normal browser.

If it still won't complete, the problem is usually a security setting on your organization's version of MokoHub that is blocking one of the pages Google needs during sign-in. This isn't something you can change yourself, so contact your administrator (see When to ask for help below) and let them know Google sign-in stops partway through.

Signing in to Gmail doesn't sign in to Calendar or Drive

Normally, one Google sign-in covers all your Google apps. If you sign in to Gmail but Calendar, Drive, or another Google service still asks you to sign in separately, that points to a setup issue in how your MokoHub was configured.

You can keep working by signing in to each Google app individually for now, but let your administrator know so they can correct the shared sign-in setup.

You're signed in to the wrong account

If a Google service opened under the wrong account (for example, a personal account instead of your work one):

  1. Open the tile that is showing the wrong account.
  2. Click your account picture or initial in the top-right corner of the Google page.
  3. Choose Sign out (or Add another account if you simply need to switch).
  4. Sign back in with the correct Google Workspace account.

Because your Google apps share one session, changing the account in one place updates the others too. Sign in with the account you actually want to use across all your Google tiles.

You get signed out every time you restart MokoHub

Your sign-ins are meant to stick around after you close and reopen the app. If you find yourself signing in again on every launch, it is usually one of these:

  • A setup issue. The way sign-in sessions are saved may not be configured to persist. This needs an administrator to fix.
  • Security software or a locked-down device. Tools that clear cached data on exit can wipe your saved sign-in each time.

Try restarting your computer once. If you are still signed out on every launch, contact your administrator and mention that logins aren't being remembered between restarts.

MokoHub keeps showing the welcome screen every time

If MokoHub returns you to the Get started welcome screen every time you open it, just click Get started again to go to your dock. This is harmless.

If it happens on every single launch and it's becoming a nuisance, it usually means your saved app data is being cleared. Restart your computer, and if that doesn't help, let your administrator know.

How to reset your sign-in

If a service is behaving strangely, showing the wrong account, or won't let you sign in, the cleanest fix is to sign out of that service and sign back in:

  1. Open the tile for the service having trouble.
  2. Use that service's own Sign out option (usually under your account picture or a menu inside the page).
  3. Reload the tile if needed, then sign in fresh with the correct account.

For Google apps, signing out of one and back in with the right account resets the shared session for all of them at once.

A note on "What is new?" and release notes

Older versions of MokoHub showed a What is new? button and a changelog screen. These have been removed. If you're looking for them and can't find them, that's expected, not a fault. The update bar now simply lets you know when an update is available or ready to install.

When to ask for help

Contact your MokoHub administrator or support team if:

  • Google sign-in never finishes, even after quitting and reopening the app.
  • Signing in to one Google app doesn't carry over to the others.
  • You're signed out every time you restart, even after a full computer restart.

These are almost always configuration issues on the organization's side rather than something wrong with your account. When you reach out, describe exactly what you see (which service, and at what point sign-in stops) so it can be fixed quickly.

Updates or Notifications Not Working

Details
Category: Troubleshooting
  • Applicable Software: MokoHub

If MokoHub isn't updating, or one of your services has gone quiet and stopped alerting you to new messages, this guide walks you through the most common causes and how to fix them. No technical background needed — just follow the steps in order.

MokoHub has two separate things that "update," and it helps to know which one you mean:

  • The app itself — new versions of MokoHub that install over the old one.
  • Your services — the tiles in your sidebar (Gmail, chat, and so on) that show you new-message counts and notifications.

The app update isn't downloading or installing

MokoHub checks for a new version in the background. When one is found, a small bar appears letting you know an update is available, then downloaded, and finally that you should restart to install. If that isn't happening, work through these steps.

  1. Make sure automatic updates are turned on. Open Settings and check that automatic updates are enabled. When this setting is off, MokoHub will not download or install anything on its own.
  2. Restart the app to trigger a fresh check. Fully quit MokoHub and reopen it. The update check runs at startup, so a clean restart is the quickest way to prompt it.
  3. Confirm you're actually online. Updates are downloaded from the internet. If other tiles are also failing to load, fix your connection first.
  4. When the bar says an update is ready, finish it. Updates install when you restart, not silently in the background. If you see "restart to install," click it (or quit and reopen) to apply the new version.
  5. Give it a little time, then check again. The app doesn't check constantly. If nothing appears immediately, it isn't broken — wait and reopen later.

"What is new?" and the changelog are gone

This is expected, not a fault. The old release-notes screen and the "What is new?" button were removed in a recent version. The update bar now simply tells you when an update is available, downloaded, or ready to install — there is no longer an in-app "what changed" list. Nothing is wrong with your install.

If MokoHub was installed from a managed store

If your copy of MokoHub came from an app store or a managed software channel (for example, a Linux Snap package), that store handles updates for you. In that case MokoHub will not update itself, and that is by design — check for updates through the store instead.

Still no update after all of the above

Sometimes there simply isn't a newer version published yet. MokoHub will only offer an update once a new release has actually been made available. If you've confirmed automatic updates are on, you're online, and a restart didn't help, there may just be nothing new to install right now.

If your organisation manages MokoHub for you, your administrator may need to publish or point the app at the correct update source. If you believe an update should be available and isn't, contact your administrator or use the Support link on the welcome screen.

Notifications from a service have stopped appearing

If a service like email or chat suddenly stops popping up notifications, the usual reason is that MokoHub put that tile to sleep to save memory. Sleeping (hibernated) tiles check for new messages far less often, so alerts can arrive late or not until you open the tile.

Here's how tiles behave depending on their priority:

  • High priority tiles stay awake and deliver notifications in real time.
  • Normal tiles (the default) go to sleep when idle and check in the background roughly every 5 minutes, so alerts can be a few minutes late.
  • Low priority tiles sleep quickly and only check about every 30 minutes.

The tile you're actively looking at is always checked constantly, so a delay only affects services running in the background.

What you can do

  1. Open the service to wake it up. Clicking a sleeping tile brings it back to life and shows its latest messages immediately — a quick confirmation that the tile itself is fine.
  2. Mark important services as high priority. For anything you can't afford to miss (email, chat, SMS bridges), set it to high priority in the app's performance settings so it stays awake and notifies you in real time.
  3. Keep the high-priority list short. Every always-awake tile uses memory, so only promote the services that genuinely need instant alerts.

Note: on some managed installs these priority settings are locked by your administrator. If you can't change them, that's intentional — reach out to whoever manages your deployment.

OS notifications aren't appearing at all

If MokoHub shows a new-message count on the tile but your computer never pops up a desktop notification, the problem is usually your operating system's permissions rather than MokoHub itself.

  1. Allow notifications for MokoHub in your OS settings. On Windows, open Settings → System → Notifications and make sure MokoHub is allowed. On macOS, open System Settings → Notifications, find MokoHub, and turn notifications on.
  2. Turn off any "do not disturb" or focus mode. Focus, Do Not Disturb, or presentation/game modes silence notifications system-wide, including MokoHub's.
  3. Check the service's own notification settings. Many services (Gmail, chat apps, and so on) have their own "enable notifications" toggle inside the web page. Open the tile and make sure notifications are switched on there too.
  4. Confirm the tile isn't muted in MokoHub. A muted service won't alert you. Check the service's settings in MokoHub and unmute it if needed.

Quick checklist

  • Automatic updates turned on, you're online, and you've restarted MokoHub.
  • You clicked "restart to install" when the update bar offered it.
  • The service you're missing alerts from is set to high priority (or you accept the normal background delay).
  • Your OS allows notifications for MokoHub, and focus/do-not-disturb is off.
  • The service isn't muted in MokoHub, and its own in-page notifications are on.

If you've worked through everything above and updates or notifications still aren't working, use the Support link on the MokoHub welcome screen or contact your administrator, and describe what you tried so they can help faster.
